Evie was angry and frightened.

Evie had been in foster care for five years. At age 7, her behavior became very challenging and Evie’s foster mother knew there was a problem at school. The school would not return her calls.

The Center researched Evie’s educational records and found that the school was not providing required special education supports. Her classroom was chaotic, and Evie came home angry and frightened; she had also come home with bruises.

We pressed the school to schedule a meeting and exposed the legal violations occurring at the school. We asked for remedies for Evie and for all students suffering from lack of services.

We helped enroll Evie in a therapeutic program where she can stabilize before she returns to the district.
